It’s too early to call , some might say. Not I. No, I’m making my prediction early this election season. If no serious gaff or nefarious secret is revealed about Mr. Obama, it is very likely that we will have the first black president in the white house come 2009. And I couldn’t be happier. Not only would this be a monumental achievement for the struggle of minorities seeking higher office, but it’s also a telling sign of the progress this country has made concerning race and politics. 30 years ago, hell even 20 years ago , this scenario would not have been possible. Sure Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton, & Alan Keyes have been presidential candidates but always as second tier (perhaps even third tier?) caricatures, and never had a serious political machine behind them.
I am very pleased about yesterday’s outcome. I really think Obama is the only candidate (outside of Edwards) that will really put his money where his mouth is and clean up the pig trough in Washington. Obama will trounce any republican candidate in his path.
